Drying Ski Boots and Gloves: Here's How to Do It Right

As of the 2026–27 season ·: A guide from the Bergfritz team.

After a day of skiing, the insides of ski boots and gloves are often damp—from snow, but also from sweat. If you put them back on while they’re still damp the next morning, you’ll get cold faster. Lenz specifically points out that damp or cold boots significantly reduce the warmth provided by thermal socks. So, dry boots are the easiest way to keep your feet warm.

With the Lenz Space Dryer 2.0

The Lenz Space Dryer 2.0 dries ski boots, hiking boots, running shoes, and gloves almost silently overnight. It is energy-efficient, automatically adjusts the temperature based on the ambient temperature, and is protected against overheating. For Lenz heated gloves that are not washed, Lenz recommends this very dryer.

Without a machine: just like in Grandma's day

You don't need a dryer:

  • Take out the batteries. Before placing shoes, socks, or gloves near a heat source, remove the batteries.
  • Remove the inner liner. With ski boots, the liner dries much faster when dried separately.
  • A dry, warm room. A heated room with dry air is often enough.
  • On the floor heating or on the radiator. That's fine, as long as the radiator isn't too hot. Too much heat can damage leather, plastic, and adhesive.
  • Enough time. Gloves, in particular, take a long time to dry because the lining absorbs a lot of moisture and has to dry from the inside out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the fastest way to dry ski boots?

Overnight with a shoe dryer like the Lenz Space Dryer 2.0. Without the device, remove the inner boot and place it in a warm, dry room.

Is it okay to put my ski boots on the heater?

On a radiator that isn't too hot or on underfloor heating, yes. Too much heat can damage the material and the adhesive.

How do I dry heated gloves?

Remove the batteries and let them dry in a warm, dry place, or use the Space Dryer. Allow plenty of time—the filling dries slowly.

Why do I have cold feet even though I'm wearing heated socks?

Ski boots are often still damp from the day before. Let them dry thoroughly overnight, and then the warmth from the heated socks will be much more effective.
