As of the 2026–27 season ·: A guide from the Bergfritz team.
A heated vest keeps you warm where the cold is most uncomfortable: on your back and around your kidneys. We intentionally carry only the Lenz Heat Vest 1.0 and 2.0. While Lenz offers other vests, these two are thin and unlined. That’s exactly what makes them so practical: you wear them close to your body under your ski or winter jacket, and the warmth goes exactly where it’s needed. You can find all models in the Heated Vests category.
How to Wear a Heated Vest Correctly
- Fitted. Lenz recommends wearing the vest directly over your technical underwear. The closer the heating elements are to your body, the better the heat is transferred.
- Under the jacket. The vest is thin and stretchy and is barely noticeable when worn under a ski jacket, softshell, or coat.
- Go one size up. Lenz heated vests are cut small and fit very snugly. We usually recommend choosing one size larger than what's listed in the size chart. If it doesn't fit, you can simply exchange it.
Why a Heated Vest Is Worth It
On the slopes. On very cold days, we even wear the vest under our ski jacket. Our favorite moment: At lunchtime on the patio, the jacket’s already off, the vest’s still on, and you’re enjoying your coffee in the sun instead of heading back inside.
On a winter walk and in everyday life. If you're moving slowly, you'll get cold faster. The vest keeps your torso warm without you having to bundle up.
While working outside in the cold. Many of our customers work on construction sites, as electricians outdoors, or in cold storage facilities. In places where you aren’t constantly on the move, a heated vest makes the workday much more comfortable.
Heat Vest 1.0 or 2.0?
| Heat Vest 1.0 | Heat Vest 2.0 | |
|---|---|---|
| Heating | two built-in heating elements in the back and lower back areas | Flexible heating elements that you can place yourself; two included, up to four possible |
| Ideal for | Anyone who just wants a warm back | If you want to apply targeted heat, for example to the back of your neck or to a tense area |
| Cut | Separate styles for women (XS–XL) and men (S–4XL) | Women's and Men's Sizes, S–3XL |
| Rechargeable Batteries | a pair of batteries | one pair of batteries; a second pair for two additional heat pads |
Both are thin, stretchy, breathable, and water-repellent; they have an inside pocket, fleece on the collar, and are machine-washable. Additional heat pads for the Heat Vest 2.0 are sold separately.
Battery and Run Time
Each vest runs on a pair of Lenz Lithium Packs—the same batteries used in the heated socks and gloves. If you already own Lenz socks, you can buy the vest without a battery. With the Heat Vest 2.0, each additional heat pad requires its own battery: so with two additional pads, you’ll need a total of two pairs of batteries.
According to Lenz, a vest equipped with the rcB 2000 provides heat for 10 to 12 hours on the lowest setting, and 6.5 to 8.5 hours with the rcB 1400. For more information, see the guide “Lenz Batteries Explained.”
Care
Lenz heated vests are washable: Remove the batteries, close the zipper, and wash on the gentle cycle at 30 °C. For more information, see the article on washing heated socks.
