As a Swiss specialist store, we attach great importance to service and advice. Please read through the most important questions and answers in the Bergfritz and Lenz sock advice. Lenz heated socks are an absolute premium brand product. The traditional company from Schwarzach in Vorarlberg has developed into the innovation leader in this segment since 1997. You can find more information about Lenz here. Lenz invented the Toe Cap technology and heats the toe area from below and above. Lenz also uses merino wool to improve the breathability of the socks. The batteries can be easily attached to the socks using a patented press stud system.
Bergfritz offers a great and affordable alternative with its own brand and warms your feet via the footbed.
The classic is the Lenz 5.1 model.
The Lenz 5.1 is also available in a SLIM version. We recommend the SLIM version if you have a narrow footbed (e.g. if you always look for particularly narrow-cut shoes when buying boots).
If you have adapted or very tight-fitting ski boots, the 6.1 model may also be a good alternative for you. Thanks to the increased proportion of merino wool, these are even thinner and still keep you pleasantly warm.
Customers often want to buy the Lenz 6.1 because they think it is simply the latest and greatest model.
In reality, however, the 6.1 is simply an alternative model with a slightly different area of application.
The Lenz 6.1 is a compression sock. We recommend it to ambitious athletes. This pair of socks is also often worn in the Ski World Cup and in ski racing.
Compression socks such as the Lenz 6.1 exert a higher ambient pressure on the muscles. The slight pressure exerted on the muscles by the sports compression socks causes the muscles surrounding the artery to relax because they have to exert less pressure themselves. This means that these socks can also be slightly performance-enhancing.
The most popular here is the slightly cheaper entry-level model 4.1 from Lenz.
To ensure perfect heating performance and a cozy, warm feeling, the heated socks should fit snugly. This is particularly important in ski boots so that there are no annoying creases in the socks.
A tight fit is important in ski boots. For other sports or activities and depending on the footwear, this is sometimes less relevant. We recommend the Lenz 4.1 (but this is also a rather tight fit). Due to the different knitting pattern, the 4.1 model feels slightly wider.
Simply choose the size that you normally wear. The socks also have elastane in the footbed for the length and therefore adapt to your individual foot shape and length.
In the rare case that you do need a larger or smaller version, it is very easy to exchange them with us. Please note the following:
We are happy if you decide on a size when you place your order and try it on carefully when you receive it. If the size does not fit after all, simply send us a short email and tell us which size you would like.
You will then receive the desired size the next working day and a prepaid return label for the unsuitable item. You can then return the exchange item to the post office free of charge.
Yes, merino wool has some great advantages:
Lenz offers its rechargeable batteries in different performance levels, which has a direct influence on the heating time in particular.
The most powerful version is the rcB2000. The output of the rcB1400 is 30% lower and of the Lenz Heat Pack 2.0 around 40% lower than the top model.
With heated socks, the rcB1400 or the Lenz Heat Pack 2.0 is actually sufficient for a normal day of skiing with a fine lunch in a warm mountain restaurant.
However, for long days of skiing, for touring or even if there are only limited charging options for multi-day tours, we definitely recommend the rcB2000 battery.
Compared to the already high total price of the Lenz heating socks, the extra charge for the rcB200 is relatively manageable. We think the extra price is often well invested, because the product should still give you pleasure in a few years' time.
Your Lenz heating products can always be controlled via the battery or the app. This allows you to monitor and control the temperature or power level directly on your cell phone.
This is particularly practical for heated socks, as the control unit can otherwise be under your ski pants.
The battery versions rcB1400 and rcB2000 are equipped with Bluetooth. With the Lenz Heat Pack 2.0, control is only possible directly on the battery.
Yes, you can easily wash your socks (without battery) in the washing bag provided at 30° on a gentle cycle. You should then air dry the socks.
Hand washing is not suitable as you could damage the heating elements.
You can find the official washing instructions from Lenz here.
If you opt for the Bluetooth battery(rcB1400 with Bluetooth or rcB2000with Bluetooth), you can also control the heating function via your smartphone.
You can download the app here. You will also find all the answers to your questions under the link.
In the end, everyone has to decide for themselves.
Lenz heated socks are really expensive. But honestly: you really do get the very best product on the market.
Otherwise, our Bergfritz heated socks are also a good and clearly cheaper alternative for you. Especially for occasional athletes or anyone for whom "just good" is enough, this is an inexpensive and recommended option.
